Direct Extraction of Low Molecular Weight DNA from Environmental Samples

Boreal’s technology enables direct extraction of low molecular weight DNA of up to 10kb from soil samples with the highest yield and purity.

  • Extract low molecular weight DNA from 300 bp to 30 kb
  • High yield and purity nucleic acids directly from crude extracts of up to 0.25 g of soil
Extraction of low molecular weight DNA from soil: Aurora vs. MoBio

Comparison of total DNA yield in ng from soil using Boreal Aurora system and MoBio PowerSoil kit. Aurora system yields up to 7X more total DNA compared to PowerSoil.

Highest Yield and Purity

Boreal’s technology concentrates and purifies intact fragments up to 10 kb directly from soil samples without mechanical  lysis or columns.  A combination of exceptional removal of inhibitors, low losses, and non-mechanical purification,  enables recovery of high yield and purity nucleic acids directly from crude extracts of up to 0.25 g of soil, and other similar environmental samples.

Ready for Downstream Processing

Highly purified DNA recovered using the Aurora instrument is ready for downstream analysis such as for use in PCR, library construction, sequencing or metagenomic analyses. Boreal’s technology removes humic acids and other inhibitors of enzyme activity that are not cleared by traditional DNA purification methods such as spin columns and alcohol based precipitation.
